Forniche's Recommendations
Chikugo udon, traditionally enjoyed in the southern part of Fukuoka, can now be enjoyed in Tokyo! The noodles are soft and slightly chewy, with a texture distinct from Sanuki udon. The broth is light and comforting, making you want to savor every last drop. It evokes a sense of nostalgia. The gobo-ten (burdock root tempura), fried to order, is crispy, and its umami perfectly complements the udon. It's a simple dish, yet one that offers truly deep and satisfying flavors!
Point of capture
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will see a meal ticket machine. Next to the ticket machine is a picture of the menu, and each menu item is numbered, You don't have to wonder which button is for which menu item!
Large portions are free, so tell the waiter when you hand in your meal ticket that you want a large portion. (I think it is easier for Japanese to understand if you tell them “large” or “big”!)
Basically, it is hot udon. The waiter will ask you when you hand over your meal ticket, so please answer “hot or cold”. Personally, I recommend hot!
